DMAchoice, a service provided by the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), offers consumers a way to proactively manage mail delivered to their home. By using this service, users can select the types of mail they want to receive and those they don't. However, does this service truly work in eliminating unwanted mail?
The effectiveness of DMAchoice is dependent on several factors, some of which are beyond the control of the service. When it comes to stopping marketing mails, the service has been claimed to be effective as it gives you the option to opt out from direct mail from firms that use DMA's Mail Preference Service.
However, DMAchoice does not have the authority to stop mail from organizations that do not use their service. Therefore, you may still receive unwanted mail from these organizations. Furthermore, it governs only marketing mails and does not have the ability to stop bills, statements, or mail from non-profit organizations.
Thus, while DMAchoice can reduce a significant portion of unwanted mail, it may not eliminate all such mail.
