When it comes to sharing your Costco membership card, there are certain rules and restrictions that must be followed as per the company's policy:
- Membership cards: Every Costco member is issued a membership card that has their photo on it to prevent unauthorized use. Your card is strictly for your personal use and cannot be shared with other individuals, even when shopping together.
- Add-on memberships: While you can't share your membership card, you can add additional people to your Costco membership. The add-on member typically has to live at the same address.
- Household Card: The primary member can name one other person living at their address to hold a Household Card. This person enjoys all the privileges of membership but is not eligible to receive an Executive Membership 2% Reward or to purchase Costco Shop cards.
- Companies: A business membership allows for add-on members who do not need to live at the same address. However, these add-on members must either be affiliated with the business or a spouse/domestic partner or a child age 18 or older.
- Gift purchases: If you want to buy items for someone who isn't a member, consider purchasing a Costco Shop card. This way, the individual can use the card to shop at any Costco location.
Bear in mind that sharing your card could lead to suspension or termination of your membership.
